Zac Taylor was coy with his quarterback situation ahead of Sunday’s game against the Patriots.
With Joe Burrow nearing a return from turf toe, the franchise quarterback was a full participant in Wednesday and Thursday’s practices and was listed as limited on Friday. The Bengals gave Burrow the questionable designation and Taylor said he’d take his time in making a decision on Sunday’s starter.
The Bengals didn’t announce that they wouldn’t be activating Burrow from injured reserve until Saturday, and then downgraded him to out. After Sunday’s 26-20 loss to the Patriots, however, Taylor revealed that he’d told Joe Flacco that he was going to start on Friday.
“Flacco knew on Friday,” Taylor said. “He knew on Friday he was starting.”
