WINNIPEG, MB
I guess this is what happens when you let the people vote. Farmer sausage, vereniki, and schmaunt fat will be featured on the new Manitoba health cards set to be released this fall.
“We could think of no better representation of health living than hearty Mennonite food,” said Manitoba Premier Wab Kinew. “Hey, before you complain, just be glad that jreewe didn’t make it on the card.”
The Menno cuisine cards beat out other options such as images of a polar bear or northern lights.
“Well, you can’t eat those,” said voter Dan Driedger. “Not the northern lights anyway.”
The Premier says he’s looking forward to the new cards, but wants to set the record straight and clear up any misconceptions.
“The card does not entitle you to a free plate of kielke or bowl of komst borscht,”
