VIRGINIA, USA — Thanksgiving is a few days away, and highways and local airports will soon be filled with travelers heading to their destinations.
13News Now is tracking high rain chances the day before Thanksgiving, which is also one of the busiest travel days for the holiday season.
According to AAA, over 2 million Virginians are taking to the roads, skies, trains, buses, and cruises.
We're told concerns over recent flight cancellations are encouraging the majority of travelers to plan road trips.
"It really just boils down to making sure that travelers are being smart, being prepared and being cautious," said Ryan Adcock, AAA public affairs specialist.
Thanksgiving is the single busiest holiday for travel compared to Memorial Day or the Fourth of July.
