The 2025 season has come to an end for the West Virginia men’s soccer team, as the Mountaineers dropped a 3-2 decision at No. 10 High Point on Sunday in the second round of the NCAA tournament.
West Virginia concludes its season with a 13-5-3 record, but it couldn’t extend its NCAA run into the third round.
High Point scored a pair of first-half goals and then increased its lead to 3-0 early in the second half.
WVU tried to fight back, getting a goal from Isaac Scheer midway through the second period to draw within 3-1. Marcus Caldeira, whose hat trick lifted the Mountaineers to their 4-3 victory over St. John’s in Thursday’s NCAA opener, got West Virginia within one by finding the net at the 86:29 mark.
