MURRAY – The Calloway County Board of Education unanimously voted at its regular monthly meeting last week to decline a proposal from an Ohio-based organization that says it provides students with a Bible-based character education program during public school hours.

According to the organization’s website, LifeWise Academy provides programming under religious release time laws, and it estimates that it will serve nearly 100,000 students this school year. LifeWise claims that during the 2025-26 school year, the organization will serve students in more than 1,100 schools in 34 states, nearly double the number of schools from the previous school year and up from 27 states.
