CROMWELL, Conn. (WFSB) - Thanksgiving shoppers can expect a little relief at the checkout line this year.

A new Wells Fargo study shows most traditional holiday groceries are about 3% cheaper than they were last Thanksgiving.

The lower prices offer some relief for families who’ve been preparing for rising grocery bills driven by inflation and recent tariff effects.

According to the survey, prices for staples such as stuffing, cranberries, gravy mix and turkey are down 3% to 4% from last year.

Some items saw even sharper declines such as frozen vegetables that dropped 15%, and dinner rolls that fell 22%.

Major retailers are also competing hard for holiday shoppers.

Walmart and Aldi both say they can help customers feed 10 people for less than $4 per person.
