Tesco shoppers face a new AI ‘anti-theft’ crackdown in the chocolate aisle. Shoppers are divided over the use of the new technology – which was spotted in one of the supermarket giant’s Manchester stores.

Posting a video of the latest technology on X, one customer said the move was ‘absolutely crazy'. Shoppers have spotted white boxes which are attached to the shelves and fitted with a small lens at the top.

A small label on the camera reads: “Shelf edge cameras are used to help us understand stock levels. They do not capture images of customers.”
