A 500-YEAR-OLD castle wall was “ripped down” by visitors who used its stones to cross a large puddle, a charity has claimed.
Historic Assynt, which looks after the former seat of clan MacLeod of Assynt, said it had carried out repairs to the wall at Ardvreck Castle after it was damaged by some “special individuals”.
The charity said the visitors had pulled down a section of the wall in a bid not to get their “little tootsies wet” in an act of vandalism they have called “truly unbelievable”.
In a post on social media, a spokesperson for the charity said: “Not sure everyone is aware, but we had some vandalism at Ardvreck again this year.
“Not just the usual theft from the collection boxes and clambering all over the walls like entitled monkeys.
