In the championship game of the 2011 North Dakota state Class A American Legion baseball tournament at Kraft Field, Mandan Chiefs’ pitcher Jay Flaa got Williston Keybirds’ C.J. Vinger to line out to end the game, giving the championship trophy to the Chiefs and the save to Flaa.
This came on the immediate heels of a Mandan Braves state championship in Flaa’s senior season. In that state title game, Flaa belted a three-run double that provided the eventual winning runs. Flaa was named all-conference, all-state, and all-state tournament selection, cementing a winning legacy out of Mandan abounding in individual and team accolades and accomplishments. kA 5:ClQ=ECQm!C64:D6=J b[ddg 52JD 27E6C u=22 :?5F465 E96 82>6\H:??:?8 =:?6@FE 282:?DE E96 z6J3:C5D[ E96 |2?52?
