HUNTSVILLE -- Some Madison County Water customers were under a boil order Monday after a water main break occurred Sunday.

An office clerk at the water utility, who declined to give her name, said Monday the boil order will be in effect until further notice for all customers who lost water service Sunday while the break was being repaired. Those customers lost service for hours, she said.

Crews were out Monday morning collecting samples from areas included under the order and will send them to the Arkansas Department of Health in Little Rock for testing, she said. Once those tests show the water is safe, the utility will alert customers they no longer need to boil water used for drinking or making food.

The clerk said the break occurred around 7 a.m. Sunday in the utility's 24-inch main
