Connecticut State Rep. Kevin Ryan

Officials in New London announced that State Rep. Kevin Ryan died over the weekend. 

The New London Democratic Town Committee announced Ryan's death in a Facebook post on Sunday, Nov. 23. They did not disclose the cause of his death.

"Kevin's commitment to public service will be greatly missed," the Democrats wrote. 

Ryan served the 139th Connecticut House District and served as assistant deputy speaker of the House. 

He has served the people of Bozrah, Ledyard, Montville, and Norwich since 1993. He was last re-elected in 2024. 

Several people posted memorials to social media. 

"A Democrat’s Democrat he was," Bud Bray wrote on Facebook. "A modest man of sterling public service to his constituency, always. Calm, caring, conscientious, with character second to none, he well reflected common sense and noteworthy intelligence as well. His shoes shall indeed be hard to fill."
