Plans to redevelop a Penilee school for children with additional support needs are set to take a major step forward with the award of a £10m contract.

The project to revamp Linburn Academy — which includes an extension to help accommodate up to 48 pupils — was granted planning permission in June this year.

It comes after Glasgow City Council secured Scottish Government funding in 2023 for the refurbishment of the school . On Thursday, councillors will be asked to approve the award of a contract for the work to City Building.

Demolitions and asbestos removal have already been carried out as part of an advanced works package, which cost £184,000. The total project cost, which also includes consultant and project management fees, is £11.81m.
