RAPID CITY, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - A South Dakota prisoner is back in custody after a reported ‘second-degree’ escape attempt.
Latoya Shangreaux was arrested in the Rapid City area on Nov. 22, 2025.
According to the South Dakota Department of Corrections, Shangreaux failed to return to the Pierre Minimum Center following her work release shift on Nov. 7th.
Failure to return to custody after an assignment constitutes a charge for second-degree escape. The charge is a Class 5 felony, punishable by five years in prison.
