1. How to Safely Thaw a Turkey

Most Thanksgiving turkeys come frozen, and thawing is the first and most crucial step.

Refrigerator Thawing (Safest Method):

Allow 24 hours of thawing per 4–5 pounds of turkey.

Place the wrapped turkey breast-side up in a shallow pan to catch any drips.

Keep refrigerated at 40°F or below the entire time.

Thawing Time Guide:

10–12 lb turkey: 2½–3 days

12–16 lb turkey: 3–4 days
