Rejecting Wrexham 's £2million offer for Zak Vyner could come back to haunt Bristol City as the two sides prepare to meet in the Championship .

The Red Dragons made a big-money move to sign the 28-year-old defender late in the summer transfer window after gaining promotion from League One . However, the Robins stood firm after insisting Vyner was "integral" to their plans.

Speaking after the window closed, City CEO Tom Rawcliffe told the BBC he was "really happy" to keep hold of the centre-back. He also acknowledged the pulling power of Wrexham's "Hollywood money" under the ownership of actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac .
