CHARDON, Ohio — Nearly two months after a fire forced the sudden closure of the Chardon Tavern, the bar’s owners say reconstruction is finally set to begin.
In a Facebook post this week, the business said it is “officially ready to rebuild” after what felt like “47 years of emails, meetings, and paperwork with contractors and adjusters.”
The owners said they “miss you all more than you know” and look forward to pouring drinks and serving food again once the project is complete.
The update comes after an Oct. 4 blaze damaged the back of the building and shut down operations indefinitely. Firefighters were dispatched at 12:08 p.m. that day and quickly brought the flames under control, according to the Chardon Fire Department. No one was injured, and all occupants were safely evacuated.
