A flight from Newark Liberty International Airport to South Africa was forced to turn around over the Atlantic Ocean early Monday when a passenger suffered a medical emergency, according to the airline.
The 236 passengers and 14 crew members onboard the Cape Town-bound United Airlines flight spent more than eight hours in the air before the plane landed back in New Jersey.

Medical personnel met the plane as soon as it touched down, a United Airlines rep told The Post. The passenger’s condition was not immediately clear.
