KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - A Park Hill high school senior is charged with having a loaded handgun inside a school last week.

Prosecutors charged 18-year-old David Jay Peebles with one count of unlawful use of a weapon.

A probable cause statement details what investigators said led to his arrest on Friday, Nov. 21.

The document shows a student notified school staff that Peebles had a gun in his backpack at the LEAD Innovation Studio. School staff then notified the school resource officer according to the school district.

“Another student did the right thing by reporting this firearm. If you see something, say something. A good citizen student did exactly that,” Eric Zahnd, Platte County Prosecutor said.
