GREENSBORO, N.C. — Greensboro police have announced an arrest in the October shooting that killed 22-year-old Mircedezes Edwards on New Garden Road.

Edwards was shot and killed on Oct. 24 in the 1900 block of New Garden Road. Officers responded around 10:25 p.m. and found Edwards unresponsive. First responders attempted life-saving measures, but she died at the scene.

Police initially described the shooting as accidental. On Monday, investigators said they have now charged Jordan Marks, 22, with second-degree murder in Edwards’ death.

According to court documents, officers determined that Marks pointed a loaded “Remington AR-15 style pistol” directly at Edwards’ chest before firing a .223 round that struck her.
