Pike County, Ill (WGEM) - One person was pronounced dead and two passengers were transported to local hospitals after a plane crash Sunday night, according to Pike County Sheriff David Greenwood.
Around 9:40 p.m., the Pike County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a possible plane crash that occurred in a field north of I-72 west of Exit 35 near Griggsville, Illinois.
When a Pike County sheriff’s deputy arrived, a person later identified as a passenger from the airplane was located along the interstate. The deputy began searching for the plane and found it a short time later.
The sheriff confirmed the plane was carrying a total of three people. Two passengers were transported to area hospitals, and one was pronounced dead at the scene.
