GRAND FORKS — A member of the Grand Forks Air Force's security forces has been charged with Class B felony reckless endangerment for allegedly shooting a coworker on accident while they were posing for a group photo.
Gerald Hugh Barran Jr., 31, faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted of the crime.
Grand Forks police were dispatched at 11:51 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, to the Cardinal Point Apartments, located at 2150 47th Ave. S., for a reported shooting, according to a declaration of probable cause summary filed in the case. Inside an apartment unit, a woman — later identified as Amber Hopson — was found lying down with two people kneeling over her, holding pressure on a gunshot wound on her back and arm, the summary said.
