FORT MYERS, Fla. — Sonny Wilson’s stellar shooting night helped University of Toledo coach Tod Kowalczyk collect his 300th victory in charge of the Rockets as they defeated Troy 75-68 on Monday as part of the Royal Palms Division of the Coconut Hoops tournament in Florida.
Wilson tied his career high with 23 points on 10-for-13 shooting. He grabbed four rebounds, as well.
Toledo (4-2) trailed Troy 36-30 at the half but outpaced the Trojans 45-32 after halftime.
Tied at 30 with a little more than two minutes remaining in the first half, Troy closed the half on a 6-0 run that included a pair of Jerrell Bellamy layups. The Trojans grabbed their biggest lead at 39-30 when Cooper Campbell buried a 3-pointer 56 seconds into the second half.
