MOUNT VERNON, Ill. (KFVS) - Officials in Mount Vernon, Illinois are giving residents a heads up about a simulated air crash emergency and training exercise happening at the airport tonight.

The Mount Vernon Fire Department, alongside the Outland Airport and Jefferson County Fire Protection District, will conduct the exercise from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

If you go near the airport, you may see more emergency vehicles and simulated aircraft crashes.

Officials say this is just a training exercise and there is no need for alarm.
