JASPER COUNTY, S.C. — More than 50 snakes were found abandoned in a South Carolina property. A breeder apparently just left them there.
The Jasper County Sheriff's office shared pictures of the snakes on Facebook. Deputies seized 52 snakes of various species from a property on Sisters Ferry Road last week. The post says the snakes are not venomous.
Deputies say someone had been breeding the snakes at his job but his employers said they didn't know the retiles were being kept on their property. After the man was fired, he allegedly ditched the snakes that were confined in plastic boxes.
Investigators say the person responsible will be charged with animal abandonment.
The sheriff’s office said the snakes will not be euthanized. Instead, they will be relocated to a sanctuary pending furth
