GREENSBORO, N.C. — The Davie Street parking deck , built in the 1960s, is now permanently closed after city officials determined the aging structure had reached the end of its useful life. Greensboro leaders say the potential for new development on the site outweighs the growing cost of maintenance.
For years, the deck served downtown visitors, workers and residents. Paul Stutts, who works in the Southeastern Building next door, said the convenience was hard to beat.
“We’ve been kind of spoiled parking on the fifth floor and just walking across the ramp to the fourth, where it’s nice and cozy and warm,” Stutts said.
With winter weather approaching, he said the change will be noticeable.
