MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - The Big Ten Conference announced Wisconsin senior linebacker Darryl Peterson III as the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week on Monday afternoon.

This comes after compiling six tackles, three sacks, and a forced fumble in the Badgers recent upset over No. 21 Illinois on Saturday.

The senior is only the second player in the conference to record three sacks in a game, and the first to tally three sacks and a forced fumble.

Peterson’s honor comes only two weeks following freshman Cooper Catalano’s defensive player of the week award, following Wisconsin’s past ranked win over No. 23 Washington.

The Badgers now prepare to close out their regular season on Saturday, as they head to Minneapolis in hopes of the rights to Paul Bunyan’s axe.
