JACKSON COUNTY, Ill. (WSIL) -- Jackson County officials urged residents to have multiple ways to get emergency alerts after a cyberattack impacted the county's operations.
The breach affected the "CodeRED” emergency alert platform through OnSolve, according to Orval Rowe with the county's emergency management agency.
"I got an email basically saying they were disconnected from CodeRED," Rowe said. "And, then they came out basically this last weekend and said they had a breach in security.”
OnSolve reported that names, addresses, phone numbers, and passwords were exposed due to the breach. The company stated there is no sign the data has been published online, but warned it could still be leaked.
