MUSKEGON HEIGHTS, MI – A suspect is in custody after a shooting near a residential area of Muskegon Heights sent one individual to the hospital with serious injuries Saturday.

According to a news release on Monday, Nov. 24, Muskegon Heights police responded to the shooting shortly after 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, at an address in the 2500 block of Wood Street.

Police said officers arrived within three minutes of the initial 911 call and found the victim with a gunshot would to the upper body. Officers attempted to render aid before the Muskegon Heights Fire Department and Trinity Health EMS arrived on scene.

The victim was later taken to Trinity Health Muskegon, police said.
