LEXINGTON, Neb. (KSNB) — A Tyson Foods worker said he was told employees will receive no severance pay when the company closes its Lexington plant in January , leaving workers uncertain about compensation as the closure approaches.

Jose Martinez, who has worked at the Lexington facility for five years, said he and his fellow employees were told they would not receive severance pay because they are not managers.

“I found out we weren’t getting a severance pack, so we aren’t getting nothing out of it,” Martinez said. “It felt like they dumped cold water on us.”

Workers said they had no advance warning about losing their jobs and thought it would be a routine day at work.

“They said they were going to have meeting, but I don’t think anything of it,” Jackson Oaks, another employee, said.
