New life could be coming to Brookwood Village in the city of Homewood.
A public hearing was held Monday in a push for the final part of the project to revitalize Brookwood Village to move forward. During the scheduled city council meeting, council members listened to the first reading of an ordinance to add parking and other office and retail space to the development.
The city council voted unanimously in April to allow Andrews Sports Medicine to move into Brookwood Village and take over the former Belk space after it has been sitting vacant for more than seven years.
No vote took place, however, as the mayor and councilors agreed to do a first reading of any ordinance and take two weeks to give it thought before moving forward.
No one from the public spoke for or against the project
