BIRMINGHAM, Ala. —

A special called meeting for Central Alabama Water on Monday quickly shifted focus from regular business to demanding accountability from the board’s new leadership. Birmingham mayor Randall Woodfin even made an unexpected appearance at the meeting to air out his grievances with the board.

Jeff Thompson was just appointed as CEO of the board last week. Just hours later, two board members filed a temporary restraining order to block his contract. According to court documents filed on Friday, there’s been a request to dismiss it, but it’s not clear if a judge has granted that motion.
