Malick Thiaw admits the love he is enjoying from the Geordie public is helping him feel top of the world at the moment - so much that he said it lifted him to the dizzy heights of flooring Erling Halaand.
Thiaw had Halaand in his back pocket against Man City but is now tasked with stopping the likes of Mason Greenwood and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Speaking after the high of restricting Halaand to just a few half-chances, Thiaw, speaking in Marseille, said: "I was really happy with the performance from the team.
"We are happy with the three points but because I did my job well. We took a lot of emotional stuff from the game and we must show that in Marseille.
