CONCORD, N.C. — A high-speed pursuit ended in a deadly crash on a major Concord road Monday night, leaving one person dead and a suspect on the run, according to North Carolina Highway Patrol .
State troopers clocked a red Camaro traveling 111 mph on I-85 North near Bruton Smith Boulevard around 11 p.m. Nov. 24. After an initial traffic stop, the driver refused to exit and sped away, attempting to exit onto George Liles Parkway.
The Camaro ran a traffic light while exiting onto George Liles Parkway and collided with a gray Cadillac, which became engulfed in flames upon impact, according to troopers. The Cadillac's driver died at the scene.
The Camaro's driver fled after the collision. Troopers have identified a person of interest but have made no arrests. Troopers do believe impairment
