Don't be surprised to see more police officers around popular shopping centers this holiday season.
"Anyone who thinks about coming to our city to commit retail crime should think again,” Franklin Police Chief Deb Faulkner said. “We will be in the stores, in the parking lots and everywhere in between. If you steal, we will catch you and put you in jail. It’s that simple.”
The Franklin Police Department's annual "Not in our Mall" operation focuses on keeping shoppers, retailers and employees safe during the shopping season, the department said in a news release Nov. 20. Some officers will be very visible, while others will be in plain clothes.
In 2024, Franklin police arrested 50 people during the holiday season and confiscated about $9,500 in stolen merchandise, the department said.
