The Boston Globe is reporting that on Monday, the office of the Chief Medical Examiner confirmed the skull found in South Boston last week is fake.

According to NBC10 Boston , workers found what appears to be a human skull encased in concrete while sawcutting along a South Boston pier.

The Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office confirmed it was notified Thursday afternoon about the discovery at Black Falcon Terminal.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner removed the skull that was encased in concrete on Friday morning. A forensic anthropologist is currently examining it.

The district attorney’s office did not have any further information until it could be determined whether human remains had been discovered.
