HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) - On this date in 1950, Kentucky, Ohio and West Virginia got hit by what they called the “storm of the century.”
It paralyzed the region and was called the Great Appalachian storm.
100 mile an hour winds were recorded in Coburn Creek, West Virginia.
More than 60 inches of snow fell and more than 350 people died as a result of the storm.
