A nonprofit focused on reducing barriers to homeownership and ensuring permanent home affordability is making its debut in central Iowa.

In the works since 2022, the nonprofit Central Iowa Community Land Trust (CICLT) will acquire land across the Des Moines metro with the goal of keeping the home on it perpetually affordable, even when sold to the next buyer. The land trust is the first of its kind in Iowa and one of more than 200 nationwide, according to Grounded Solutions Network , a national housing organization.
