A police officer removed a knife from a pupil at a highschool in Ayr after the weapon was taken out during class. The shocking incident took place at Belmont Academy on Monday afternoon. ‌

A campus police officer was called to the classroom to intervene after a student took the blade out in front of classmates. Police Scotland confirmed that the pupil was traced and a report will now be sent to the relevant authorities. ‌

The school issued a letter to parents from the headteacher Kevin Boyd who assured families that 'safeguarding measures are in place.' He added: "The safety and wellbeing of all our pupils is our highest priority." ‌
