A Putnam County Sheriff’s Office member was injured and a suspect was shot after a vehicle tried to flee an investigation in the Town of Southeast Monday night, according to information provided by Mark Lieb of Rockland Video Productions on behalf of law enforcement.
The incident happened at approximately 8;35 p.m., Nov. 24, on Sodom Road, Lieb said. Members of the Sheriff’s Office were conducting an investigation when a suspect’s vehicle attempted to flee the scene and injured one of our members when he struck our member with the vehicle, according to Lieb.
During the encounter, the deputy who was hit fired their weapon and the suspect "sustained a gunshot injury." The suspect was taken to a local hospital, while the injured deputy was transported to a separate hospital, Lieb said.
The New York State Police are leading the investigation. They had not released a statement as of press time.
