A lifeguard savaged by a tiger shark has revealed the harrowing details of how he cheated death during the terrifying encounter. Chance Swanson, 33, an ocean safety officer and keen surfer, was attacked on his left leg by the predator while riding waves in Hanalei Bay, Hawaii, on November 5.
Fellow lifeguards on shift spotted him through binoculars and realised he was floating motionless with a massive crimson pool spreading around him. They raced to his aid on a rescue ski, slapping on a tourniquet whilst still in the water before rushing him to the beach.
