CLEVELAND, Ohio — Avon’s historic run a year ago took it to the University of Akron’s InfoCision Stadium for a road game against Archbishop Hoban.
The defending OHSAA Division II state champions return there Friday night for the state semifinals, but this time Walsh Jesuit (11-1) will await them instead of Hoban. The Warriors stunned Hoban last week, 35-7 , in their third straight regional final meeting and are in the state semifinals for the first time since 1999.
“Now we have to finish it off,” senior receiver Milan Parris said after the game, which saw Walsh dominate on both sides of the line of scrimmage . “We didn’t come this far just to come this far.”
Avon (12-1) knows what that’s like.
