RALEIGH, N.C. (WITN) - The legislative assistant to a state senator who was recently charged with DWI has been accused of arson.
Raleigh police arrested Diane Cook yesterday after warrants say she intentionally burned a home with two people inside last Thursday.
Cook is listed as State Senator Norm Sanderson’s assistant on the General Assembly’s website.
Last month , Sanderson, of Pamlico County, was arrested by the Highway Patrol for DWI.
Court records show that Sanderson took a breathalyzer test and blew a .16, which is twice the legal limit.
Sanderson, a Republican, represents District 2, which includes Carteret, Chowan, Halifax, Hyde, Pamlico, Warren, and Washington counties.
Cook has been charged with first-degree arson and is being held without bond.
She is due in Wake County
