HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) - A man learned his fate for sexually assaulting a child he met over a social media app, state prosecutors announced.

Zachary Williams, 38, of Brooklyn, NY, was sentenced on Monday to 20 years in prison.

According to U.S. attorney for the District of Connecticut David Sullivan, Williams traveled to Connecticut on two occasions in Feb. 2021 to sexually assault an 11-year-old girl.

Sullivan said Williams began conversing with the girl on Snapchat.

According to court documents and statements made in court, Williams groomed the girl and coerced her to send her sexually explicit images of herself.
