PORT NECHES, Texas — Friends and family are mourning Mike Giblin, a 68-year-old Port Neches man found in a canal behind his home on Friday, as preliminary autopsy findings indicate his death was caused by accidental drowning, according to Justice of the Peace Brad Burnett.
The canal behind Saba Lane in Port Neches, where Giblin was found, sits quietly days after his death. It has been five days since Giblin went down to feed the fish in the canal behind his home, a task he performed every night.
Giblin’s longtime best friend and former Port Neches-Groves football teammate, Karl Segura, spoke with 12News about their 50-year friendship, which began in middle school and grew through decades of shared experiences, from football games to golf outings and trips.
