SHAKER HEIGHTS, Ohio -- City Council on Monday (Nov. 24) accepted an $84,000 grant to bring a full-time victims’ advocate on staff in Shaker Heights Municipal Court.
Federal funding passes through the Crime Victims Services section of the Ohio Attorney General’s Office and will cover the new salary, as well as the employer’s contribution for benefits.
“In furtherance of our commitment to mitigating the harm of crimes of violence in our community, the advocate will ensure that victims of crime in our jurisdiction have access to all necessary resources,” a memo from Shaker Heights Municipal Court Judge Anne Walton Keller stated.
The municipal court serves not only Shaker but also Beachwood, Hunting Valley , Pepper Pike and University Heights.
