The body found in the Mount Hood National Forest earlier this month has been confirmed as that of missing hunter Devon Christopher Dobek.

Dobek, 51, of Hubbard, was reported missing in late October, prompting a large-scale search-and-rescue effort that included helicopters and drones. The official search was called off after seven days, but volunteers continued the effort and found the body on November 15 near the Fish Creek campground.

The Clackamas County Medical Examiner’s Office concluded that Dobek’s death was accidental.

Jace Cook, a deputy district attorney in Linn County and a family friend of the Dobeks, previously said it appeared Dobek fell off a ledge.

The Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office said Dobek’s body was found at the base of a 400-foot cliff.
