The deceased was an employee of an independent potato supplier, as confirmed by Tayto Snacks Ltd. Emergency services and Gardaí swiftly responded to the scene. In a statement, Tayto expressed its deep sorrow over the incident, stating, "It is with profound shock and sadness that Tayto Snacks Ltd. confirms that a fatal incident involving an employee of an independent potato supplier occurred at our Ashbourne, Co. Meath site this morning." The company has pledged to assist with the ongoing investigations. They stated, "We will also be working closely with all parties including the Health & Safety Authority." The next of kin of the deceased have been informed, and Tayto extended its condolences, saying, "Our thoughts are with their family, friends, and colleagues as they come to terms with this terrible loss." Managing Director John O’Connor expressed the company's devastation, stating, "We are devastated by today’s incident and our thoughts and prayers are with the family, friends and colleagues impacted by this tragic loss of life."
