Monticello Marketplace opened in 1998 to provide retail services to the expanding population in the western part of James City County. This complex now provides a variety of shops, restaurants and personal services for the surrounding community.

This column is not going to focus on the anchor stores in this complex — Target, TJ Maxx, Dollar Tree and Publix. Many people who shop in this center are initially attracted by these large national chains. This will focus, instead, on the specialty shops and restaurants where customers can find holiday gifts and good food.
