This year’s Easton Area seniors get to do what last year’s unfortunately didn’t... build their wood pile for the bonfire.

A long-standing tradition got canceled last year when the Easton Area School District halted the annual bonfire due to a Northampton County burn ban because of dry conditions and concerns over public safety.

There were no concerns preventing the seniors this year.

So hundreds of seniors turned out to show their school spirit Tuesday, working together outside the high school to construct the wood pile.

The pile usually tops-off around 30-feet tall and will be set on fire Wednesday night on the eve of the annual Thanksgiving Day football game against rival Phillipsburg High School .

The rivalry game will be played at 10:30 a.m. Thanksgiving Day at Lafayette College
