Justice Secretary Angela Constance has insisted she “accurately quoted” Professor Alexis Jay during a Holyrood debate on grooming gangs, despite the government being forced to issue a correction over the child abuse expert’s position.
The minister rejected suggestions she had misled Parliament ahead of a key vote in September.
She also said she had “no objection” to releasing correspondence between her and Prof Jay.
Last week, The Herald revealed that officials had quietly published a correction admitting the minister’s comments, made during a debate on the Victims, Witnesses and Justice Reform (Scotland) Bill, were incorrect.
